Knicks Win 124-106: Timofey Puts up Amare-like Numbers

Timofey Mozgov: 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Danilo Gallinari: 29 points, 5 rebounds, 11/11 from the line.

Amar’e Stoudemire: 33 points and 6 rebounds.

Rookie center Timofey Mozgov had his most impressive game of the season when the Knicks needed it most. As highlighted earlier in the day Wilson Chandler was out with an injury, and Amar’e was struggling with his knee, as well as Shawne Williams being suspended because of his brawl. Mozgov reminded us all why D’Antoni gave him the starting job at the beginning of the season. He struggled early, but that was to be expected. Imagine what it would feel like to finally get the chance to get on the floor again. However, once he settled down, he had a MONSTER game. 24 points and 14 rebounds are numbers that a teams #1 option puts up.

The amazing thing about the Knicks is that they have many weapons. Gallinari, Chander, Felton, Amare, Fields, and now we can add Mosgov to the list. All of these guys have the ability to completey control a game and to drop huge stat-lines.
While I doubt that the Knicks’ lineup from tonight could stand up to any playoff team, they did enough to get a win against a pretty bad Pistons team. Now the Knicks stand at 25-22 on the season and they get two days of rest before Wednesday’s showdown with the Dallas Mavericks at the Garden. Hopefully the team can come out healthy and put a streak together.
