Another day, another win.
After years of suffering, Knicks fans finally receive a 40-win season.
Tonight, the New York Knicks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 97-92. Tonight’s game was a nice win, but another ugly one. The Knicks blew a 20-point lead, but managed to hold on thanks to two clutch three pointers. Toney Douglas hit an ill-advised three that put the Knicks up two with a minute-fifty left, and Melo hit a HUGE three with 11.8 seconds left to put the Knicks up four, and to seal the deal.
Carmelo Anthony had an enormous third quarter in which he scored 15 points and nailed three of three from deep. Thanks to his big third quarter and solid play throughout, Melo finished the game with 31 points and 11 rebounds; his fourth 30 point game in 5 games.
Chauncey Billups left tonight’s game in the fourth due to another thigh injury that he received while fighting over a high screen. While his effort was noted, its not worth him playing 100% to get injured. Chauncey Billups has the most playoff experience on this team and it is necessary for him to be completely healthy if the Knicks want to make noise in the post-season.
While it is nice to takeover the 6 seed, let’s see if we can hold onto it. It will all boil down to playing the Heat or the Celtics. I would prefer to take a stab at the Heat instead of playing the experienced Celtics team.
I cannot believe we will finally be playing basketball in late June.
Lets go Knicks!
