The New York Knicks lost game two of their seven game series with the Boston Celtics by a score of 96-93.
Chauncey Billups sat this game out with an injury and Amare Stoudemire did not play the second half due to back spasms. The great thing of having a big three is having a big three on the floor, but the bad thing is, when you are left with one of the members on the floor, everything collapses on that player.
Carmelo Anthony had a MONSTER game. He finished with 42 points on 14-30 from the floor, as well as 17 rebounds.
Unfortunately, in the final seconds of the game, with the game on the line, who else should the ball go to other then Melo? Well, since Amare and Billups were out of the game, the Celtics knew exactly where the ball was going. Once Melo drew the double-team, he passed it off to Jeffries. Previously, Jeffries had connected on a layup to put the Knicks ahead. This time, Garnett stepped up and came away with a huge defensive play.
Knicks are now down 2-0 and will need to win both games at MSG. Even before we were in this situation, I saw the two home games as must wins. Now, let’s see if the Knicks can not finish close, but rather finnish with two straight victories.
