Thank You, Donnie Walsh
Way back in April, we posted “Chant For Donnie“, a post urging Knick fans to chant for Mr. Walsh at the last home game. I ended that post with the words: “Let’s show our appreciation to the man that has made New York City basketball relevant again and to the man who might not be here next season”.
Today, June 30, marks Donnie’s last official day in office before he slips into the shadows and returns to Indiana. He has restored one of the N.B.A’s most famous franchises back into a contender. He leaves New York unlike any other MSG executive over the last decade; He leaves with his dignity intact.
Walsh, like any other executive, made mistakes during his tenure, but from the day he signed his contract with the Knicks, he had a plan and stuck to it. Today, the Knicks are exponentially better than when his tenure began. All though Walsh’s mission can not be considered complete, his time in New York was a definite success.
The Knicks are officially back and The Knicks Wall would like to thank Mr. Walsh for everything he has done for this organization. He restored both the on-court product and the teams’ off-court product.
Thank you, Donnie Walsh.
