Despite receiving multiple stitches in his left hand, that left his palm looking like a baseball, Amare Stoudemire will not only play in game four, but he will start.
Mike Woodson said that “Amare wanted to play” and that the doctors felt he was okay to go. For protection, Stoudemire will be wearing a padded brace, but will not be limited in playing time, unless the laceration was to reopen.
Now, I don’t think it’s the smartest thing for a guy with $65 million remaining on his contract to play with the possibility of reopening his palm, but I like Stoudemire’s desire to rush back to the floor after such a stupid stunt. I would not at all be surprise if Stoudemire comes out and scores 30 points in a Knicks victory, but I’m still amazed he’s playing with so many stitches on his hand. Then again, he was stupid enough to punch the case.
