Chris Smith, who participated in the Knicks’ summer league team this year, tweeted out the image above. He signed some sort of a contract, but right now, the details are unknown. It’s likely a non-guaranteed training camp invite, like Chris Copeland received, since Smith didn’t perform too well in Las Vegas. It’s a little shocking of a signing, since Smith didn’t impress, and the Knicks need a backup big more than a third/fourth string guard.
If Copeland and Smith were to make the opening day roster, the Knicks would be at 15 players… I wouldn’t expect much from this, as it’s likely a political move to please JR Smith.
