Today we have learned that Ronnie Brewer underwent a successful surgery for a tear in his left meniscus, after suffering an injury in the past two weeks. Assuming the rehab goes well, he should be back with the team about two weeks into the official team training camp, which is set to begin on October 2nd.
This is a huge blow to a huge free-agent pickup. We know that the players organized a pre-training camp, set to start on Monday, and anytime a new player comes to a team, you want them to get as many reps as possible. After this surgery, Brewer will not only miss the nearly month-long pre-training camp, which would allow him to get into a groove with the team, but also the first two-ish weeks of the official training camp.
Rest assured, though, Knicks fans. Ronnie Brewer “will for sure be 100% for season opener,” and it’s a “minor setback for a major comeback.”
Get well soon, Ronnie!
