On an afternoon highlighted by a monumental announcement (LeBron James), big team changes (Jeremy Lin and Isaiah Thomas), a critical re-signing (Chris Bosh), and baffling contract extension by the Lakers (Nick Young and Jordan Hill), the Knicks were able to announce that they have re-signed one of their own: Cole Aldrich.
Fresh off an impressive Summer League appearance, Aldrich finished the afternoon with 9 points and 15 rebounds en route to a victory against the SummerMavericks. He looked comfortable in the triangle offense and will play a vital part in the rotation, giving Samuel Dalembert a breather.
In order for the Knicks to re-sign Aldrich, they had to create a roster space for him. Therefore, Jackson announced that they have waived Lamar Odom. ”Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player,” Jackson said. “We found it necessary to free up the roster spot.”
Hello again, Cole World.
