As reported by Jason Quick, a senior writer for The Oregonian, the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers have come to terms on the details of their sign-and-trade. Portland will receive Jared Jeffries, Dan Gadzuric, Kostas Papanikolaou, Georgios Printezis and some cash. The Knicks will get Raymond Felton and Kurt Thomas. The deal cannot be made official until tomorrow, as Dan Gadzuric is not eligible to be traded until July 16th, according to Alan Hahn.
The New York Knicks hold the rights to Kostas Papanikolaou – their second round draft pick from this year – and Georgios Printezis – who they acquired the rights to in the Tyson Chandler deal. These two Europeans are leading the way for the Greece National Team, in hopes of qualifying for the Olympic tournament.
Four-hours into the 2012 NBA Draft, the Knicks’ name was finally called. With the 48th overall pick, the New York Knicks selected Kostas Papanikolaou.
This was a head-scratching pick for many Knicks fans, as Scott Machado and Darius Johnson-Odom were both still on the board. Machado and Johnson-Odom both filled immediate needs in back-up point guard and shooting guard, but the Knicks’ greek scout had his way.
