Knicks keep Division Title Hopes Alive with Win over Celtics
The Knicks earned a season split against the Boston Celtics with a 118-110 win tonight at Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony had his second career triple-double, pouring in 35 points along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Paul Pierce led all scorer’s with 43 points in a losing effort.
The Knicks could not contain the Heat’s dynamic duo
Even though the Heat were 3-8 in their last 11 road games, the Knicks defense could not contain Dwayne Wade or LeBron James, as they lost 93-85 to the Heat. Wade and James combined for 57 of the Heat’s 93 points.
Knicks make Wizards Disappear in Rout
In what turned out to be a scrimmage before their nationally televised matchup with the Miami Heat on Sunday, the Knicks completely destroyed the Washington Wizards Friday night at MSG, 103-65. J.R. Smith led New York with 23 points and six assists off the bench. The Wizards were led by Jordan Crawford’s 17 points.
The Buck Stops with Knicks Winning in Milwaukee
WHAT. A. GAME.
In a game that for sure left fans at the edge of their seats, biting off their nails, screaming at their TVs and gasping for air, the Knicks pulled out a huge win over the Bucks in Milwaukee, 111-107. Carmelo Anthony continued his hot streak, leading New York with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Monta Ellis had his best game as a Buck, scoring 35 points and filling the stat sheet with 10 assists, six rebounds and four steals.
Three-Man Weave: Happy Easter Edition
I’m still on overdrive after the Knicks comeback win over the Chicago Bulls today, Easter Sunday. It was a game full of resurrections (D-Rose and Bulls in third, Carmelo and the Knicks in late fourth and overtime). Here’s a special edition of the Three-Man Weave.
Knicks Blow Out Magic… Again
Two national TV games versus Orlando. Two Knicks blowouts. Nice.
The Knicks defeated Orlando for the second time in as many weeks, as they blew out the Magic 96-80. Tyson Chandler led the way with a solid 12 points and 12 rebounds. He shut down Dwight Howard for the 3rd time this season, holding the Magic center to 8 points and 8 rebounds. The scoring was balanced as five different Knicks scored in double figures.
Knicks Shut-Up Granger, Pound Pacers
So ummm, Danny Granger, about those “very winnable games”?
The Knicks defeated the Pacers Friday night at Madison Square Garden, 115-100. Tyson Chandler led the Knicks with 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Darren Collison led the Pacers with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
No Melo + No Defense = Ugly Loss to the Thunder
The New York Knicks lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 104-92, and Carmelo Anthony’s absence, due to his sprained right ankle, was a significant reason that they lost, but it would have also helped if the team played some defense.
Knicks Get Revenge
The Knicks defeated the Charlotte Bobcats, 91-87, at MSG, to move over .500 (5-4) and improve their record to 2-2 at the World’s Most Famous Arena. After losing by eight points on the 4th, the Knicks were able to pick up the defense to get some revenge against the Bobcats.
Despite win, Knicks still have concerns
The Knicks did something on Sunday they couldn’t do on eight separate occasions last season: beat the Boston Celtics. But, despite the win, there are some things the team needs to clean up, in order to contend for a championship this season.
‘Melo Gives Knicks Fans a Merry Christmas
The New York Knicks gave all of their fans a nice Christmas present by defeating the Boston Celtics in thrilling fashion, 106-104, as Carmelo Anthony led the way.
During a matinee game against their rivals from the north, the Knicks started out strong, ending the first quarter with a 34-23 lead. Renaldo Balkman, and rookies Josh Harrelson and Iman Shumpert, came off the bench and gave valuable minutes, while the starters were resting. New York was able to successfully limit the impact of Rajon Rondo in the first quarter, who is one of the top three point-guards in basketball, especially when he is making his jumpers.
Knicks Shooting for a Championship
This has been quite a hectic off-season throughout the NBA, and the New York Knicks have been one of the most active teams.
Fairly early in the offseason, on August 29th, the Knicks made a very underrated hire in assistant coach Mike Woodson, who is regarded as a defensive specialist, which is exactly what the Knicks needed to pair with head coach, Mike D’Antoni. Also, a fun fact about Mike Woodson: Woodson played ball with Knicks’ Interim General Manager Glen Grunwald at Indiana University.
