The Knicks officially have their first entrant in the 2023 All-Star Weekend, as Quentin Grimes was named to the Rising Stars game today.

New York Knicks sophomore guard Quentin Grimes was named to the NBA Rising Stars roster ahead of 2023 All-Star weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah, the NBA announced today.

After a breakout Summer League campaign and reportedly being named untouchable in Donovan Mitchell trade talks, Grimes has started for the Knicks for most of this season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists per game. His insertion into the starting lineup following an injury to start the year was key to the team’s explosion in the second quarter of the season, thanks to his combination of high-level defense and low-usage three-point shooting. That success has now landed him in the All-Star weekend event that is also featuring 21 other rookie and sophomore standouts across the NBA.

Grimes will be the first Knick to participate in the contest since RJ Barrett. Pao Gasol, Joakim Noah, Jason Terry and Deron Williams will all serve as head coaches for the teams in the Rising Stars game.
