Last year’s number one seed in the East looks to defend its crown under Mike Miller, returning Dub Knicks, and newcomers.
The New York Knicks’ G League affiliate team, the Westchester Knicks, will play their fifth season in franchise history, and they announced their training camp roster on Tuesday.
Head coach Mike Miller, entering his forth season helming the G League squad, will return to coach the Dub Knicks after winning the Coach of the Year honors last year. Miller led the team to an Atlantic Division title and first in the Eastern Conference.
Westchester’s roster will include Kadeem Allen, Jeff Coby, John Jenkins, and Tyrius Walker—all players the big-league Knicks signed to Exhibit 10 deals in September before subsequently waiving the four. That move was apparently to compensate the G Leaguers as an Exhibit 10 contract offers $50,000 bonus into their pockets preceding ostensibly agreements to bring them to White Plains and compete in the developmental league.

Two-way contract players Allonzo Trier and Isaiah Hicks are also present on the Westchester roster. Hicks was signed to the same type of deal during his rookie year, where he averaged 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18 games with New York and 15.6 points and 7.8 rebounds with Westchester, per RealGM.
Trier certainly is a candidate to rise above his 45-day NBA contract with the team. The former Arizona Wildcat has pushed himself into the Knicks rotation—and that occurred before Kevin Knox’s ankle injury. It appears as though Allonzo will stick around the ‘Bockers, possibly signing for the rest of the season after his 45 days have expired, which would mean New York would have to cut someone on the roster.
Also on the roster are returning Dub Knicks players Billy Garrett, Devon Baulkman, Paul Watson, Sekou Wiggs, and the aforementioned Jenkins. Last year’s leading scorer, Trey Burke, rightfully earned his full-time residence on the Knicks’ roster more than half-way through last season. Burke would later explode for 42 points and 12 assists in a game against the Charlotte Hornets. Former Dub Knicks standouts include Langston Galloway, Jimmer Fredette, Chasson Randle, and Nigel Hayes. The former Wisconsin forward, Hayes, was signed by the Sacramento Kings towards the end of the 2017–18 season but was waived over the summer; he currently plays with Galatasaray S.K. in the Turkish league.
Stephen Zimmerman is on the G League roster. At 6’11”, the big man out of UNLV was drafted in the second round of the 2016 draft by Orlando. He has since played for G League teams Erie BayHawks and South Bay Lakers. Zimmerman was a McDonald’s All-American before attending UNLV for a single season.
Brooklyn native Phil Carr is on the training camp roster, too, after attending HBCU Morgan State. Tyrius Walker is an HBCU alumnus, too, of Morehouse College.
Beyond Miller, Craig Robinson serves as Vice President of Player Development and plays a big role with the G League club. Former Knick great Allan Houston serves as the Dub Knicks’ General Manager.
